CHEER UP AND CELEBRATE SPRING WHILE THERE'S MAGIC IN THE AIR by Camille Aubray

Recently at a book event, a woman in the audience stood up and said that she loves to give my books as gifts for Mother's Day, graduations, and bridal showers "because your novels have such joie de vivre that they lift our spirits when we read them!" And then she said curiously, "What made you write about godmothers in this new novel?"

I told her that the image of godmothers is so powerful and irresistibly magical, like a fairy godmother. Then I asked the audience, "If you had a godmother who could grant you only one wish, what would it be?" That turned into a lively discussion, so, now I'd love to hear from you: What's the one wish you'd ask your fairy godmother to grant?

I hasten to add that I'm not a magician! But I can tell you that the bouquet of springtime holidays are all really about one simple thing that everyone can celebrate: the return of the sun, the renewal of life. Sometimes we forget this in the rush of so many events that can crowd our calendars. So I take a deep breath and enjoy all the beautiful scents of spring--even when it's raining, it's lovely with the promise of brighter days to come.
